Montgomery man charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, receiving stolen property

Auburn, Ala. - On Oct. 1, 2024, Auburn Police arrested Sammie Lee Taylor Jr., age 41, from Montgomery, Alabama on felony warrants charging him with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and receiving stolen property second degree.

The arrest stems from a traffic stop for a traffic violation that occurred near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Shug Jordan Parkway. Officers made contact with Sammie Lee Taylor Jr., who was a passenger in the vehicle. During the stop, an investigation was initiated, and officers recovered a firearm from the vehicle.

Auburn Police confirmed that the firearm was stolen in another police jurisdiction. Officers additionally received information confirming that Taylor’s possession of a firearm was a felony according to Alabama law.

Taylor was arrested for the charges associated with the firearm and was transported to the Lee County jail and held on a $13,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
